Upgrades at the King St. Sewage Pumping Station

Upgrades are planned at the King St. Sewage Pumping Station located at 62 King St. West. The purpose of the upgrades is to improve station operation as well as the addition of floatables control on combined sewer overflows.

The works will include:

  • Upgrades to station headworks which may include some building modifications.
  • Improvement of existing pump cooling system.
  • Installation of floatables control measures on combined sewer overflows as well as monitoring for flow and quality.
  • Repair of flushing gate system in CSO tank.
  • Interior building improvements.

The proposed project is being undertaken by Utilities Kingston, and is subject to the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, 2007 (Class EA) planning process as it applies to municipal sewage projects. The upgrades at the King St. Sewage Pumping Station are being planned as a Schedule A+ Class EA activity and are pre-approved. Public notice of project implementation is being provided in accordance with Class EA requirements.
