Basement Flooding Report

This form is used to collect information on basement flooding to assist the City and Utilities Kingston in directing investigations and works to assist in alleviation of flooding issues.

Any information provided to Utilities Kingston will be retained and used in confidence. The information provided is retained and used by Utilities Kingston for the purpose of review of the effect of flooding on properties and neighbourhoods. By supplying this information you consent for its use for that purpose. Utilities Kingston is also subject to the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56 and, as a result, must comply with disclosures which must be made under that statute.

Sanitary Sewer Backup
Backup from the sanitary sewer system, which is usually brownish water, accompanied by solids and septic odour

Groundwater or Stormwater
Seepage from groundwater around the foundation or surface water near the house. While this can have odours and discolouration, it usually does not contain any solids or have a septic odour

Sanitary and Storm /Groundwater
In many cases, it may be difficult to tell, or a mixture of both

Severity:
MINOR:
Small puddles, negligible damage if any

MODERATE:
Pooling of water, minor damage

MAJOR:
Up to a foot of water, substantial damage

SEVERE:
Over a foot of water, severe damage
