New Electricity Rates In Effect May 1

[MAY 1/08] - Electricity pricing which took effect May 1 will see a decrease in the cost of power for most Kingston Hydro's customers. While the commodity price of electricity went up $3.60 (to $55.81) for a typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh per month, a decrease in the costs of retail transmission (down $4.97) resulted in a savings of $1.43 after taxes for that same customer. Furthermore, when compared to prices in effect a full year ago, the commodity price is now lower by $3.11, helping to create a May-to-May drop of $9.58 in the total cost after taxes, which is now $106.42 for that 1,000-kWh-per-month customer.

We'll even haul it out of your basement for you. Then we'll take care of it in an environmentally responsible manner. When we're finished recycling and reclaiming material, all that's left for the landfill will just about fit inside a cowboy hat!
