EVERY KILOWATT COUNTS

Visit the Every Kilowatt Counts web site for more information and to sign up.

Simply turning up the thermostat on your air conditioner saves electricity and could make you a big winner!

Saving money and helping the environment are excellent reasons to conserve — but a load of fabulous prizes certainly doesn't hurt.

Reduce your electricity consumption by 10% compared to last summer for the chance to win great prizes.

To qualify for Early Bird prizes sign up between May 1 and June 30, 2008. Entries for the Grand Prize draw close on July 15, 2008 so sign up today on the Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweep Stakes web site or call 1-800-322-7417

USE LESS AND WIN BIG

Reducing your electricity consumption by just 10% is easier than you may think; there are countless daily opportunities to conserve that require just a small effort on your part. Why not try a few today?

  • Turn up your thermostat by 1 or 2 degrees; you'll hardly notice the difference between 23° and 25° Celsius.
  • Fight phantom power. Just unplug small devices — like your cell phone charger — when they're not in use. Put TVs, DVD players and computer equipment on a power bar and simply flip the switch.
  • Use your clothesline. Your dryer uses a lot of electricity but the sun and the wind are free! Plus, you'll enjoy fresh smelling clothes.
  • Set a spa or pool pump timer. You need to run the pump for your unheated or electrically heated above-ground pool or spa only 12 hours a day to keep the water sparkling clean.
  • Get rid of that old second fridge. A fridge 10 years or older is up to 3 times less efficient than today's models. To make things easier, the Refrigerator Roundup will take your working fridge away for free!
