Responsibilities:
The incumbent will select, purchase, install, maintain and repair meters and metering
related equipment for the operation of electric, water and gas utility services. The
incumbent will refer to drawings to complete work and troubleshooting manuals to problem-solve
power quality problems. The incumbent will write reports, standard operating procedures,
letters, and liaise with other departments to obtain and share information. In addition,
the incumbent will provide support for the stable operations of Utilities Kingston's SCADA
(supervisory control and data acquisition) systems for all utilities.
Qualifications:

Minimum 2-year diploma from an accredited community college in an Electronic, Electrical
or Instrumentation Engineering field.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Journeyperson Measurement and Communications
certification status (4-year training program) and a G2 Gas Certificate.

Experience in an electrical environment, investigating and remediating power quality
problems. Experience analyzing consumptive and power quality data. Experience in a
utilities environment will be considered an asset.

Familiarity with analyzing equipment, computer and communication systems. Candidates
should identify all systems with which they have experience.

Electrical awareness training will be considered an asset.

Valid CPR/First Aid, or ability to obtain this certification.

Valid Class "G" driver's licence valid in Ontario.
Skills, Abilities, Special Physical Demands:

Ability to learn specialized software.

Ability to use intermediate mathematical skills to complete estimations.

Ability to work in varied environments including confined spaces and in adverse weather
conditions.

Self-motivation. Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. Effective teamwork
skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a CPIC check (criminal record check)
at their own expense as a condition of employment.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to obtain a Journeyperson, Measurement and Communications certificate of
qualifications, a G2 gas certificate and maintain Class "G" driver's licence throughout
employment.
