UTILITIES KINGSTON RELEASES WATER QUALITY REPORTS - CITY GETS TOP MARKS FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION TO CITIZENS
Utilities Kingston released its fourth quarter reports on drinking water quality today. The reports are prepared in response to Operation Clean Water, an initiative of the Ministry of the Environment
to ensure safe drinking water and the protection of public health.
The fourth-quarter water confidence reports, covering Oct.-Dec. 2001, come on the heels of a study undertaken by the Canadian Environmental Defence Fund entitled "Making the Grade." That report ranked
Utilities Kingston number one in the province for "promotion, accessibility and content of water quality reports." Utilities Kingston's water confidence reports were given an overall grade of B+.
"We are pleased to present to the community our fourth quarter water confidence reports. We're also very pleased with the B+ grade given to us from the Canadian Environmental Defence Fund report card,
" says Utilities Kingston President and CEO Jim Keech. "Our goal is simple: Provide residents of Kingston with the safest, most reliable drinking water possible - and to make sure they have full
access to these (water) confidence reports."
Copies of the latest reports can viewed on the Water Quality Reports page or picked up at 211 Counter Street or Kingston City Hall. There is no charge for a copy of the report. A copy of the "Making the
Grade" report may be obtained at www.cedf.net.
