UTILITIES KINGSTON STATEMENT ON WATER-TEST LABS
Utilities Kingston wants to assure Kingston residents that the City's water testing program does not use the lab that
was the subject of recent media reports in South-western Ontario.
Utilities Kingston uses local laboratories that are approved by the Ministry of Environment and has experienced no
problems with quality control from the lab. Further, Utilities Kingston has full confidence in the service received from
its water testing laboratories.
The KFL&A Health unit noted that the concerns in South-western Ontario are about quality assurance programmes, rather
than poor water quality in those communities. The Medical officer of Health for the KFL&A area assures the public that
not only are municipal water supplies in this region tested according to standard but that water quality in municipal
systems consistently meet provincial water quality standards.
If there are any questions or concerns, contact Utilities Kingston President and CEO Jim Keech at 546-1181 extension
2217.
