AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
FOR NORTH END SEWAGE WORKS

The North End Sewage Works, including the north end trunk sewer and the north end sewage pumping station, are the subject of a study initiated by Utilities Kingston. Most of these works were constructed in the 1950s. The majority of the equipment in the pumping station is original and is due for replacement. In addition, high sewage flows are often experienced during periods of intense or prolonged rainfall and during snowmelt. Occasionally, a sewage by-pass occurs at the station during periods of particularly high flows.

The study will include a condition assessment of the trunk sewer and the pumping station. Recommendations will be made for upgrades to enable these facilities to manage the future sewage flows from the service area.
