WATER AND ELECTRIC CONSERVATION MUST CONTINUE
The City of Kingston reminds citizens that the outdoor use of water is permitted only from 6:00 a.m. to 10: 00 a.m. on odd numbered calendar days if your civic address is odd numbered and likewise, if your civic address is even numbered, you can use water outside only from 6:00 a.m. to 10: 00 a.m. on even numbered calendar days.
"We are disappointed to hear reports today of people disregarding the even/odd lawn water restrictions. I can say with certainty that these bylaw breaches will be dealt with accordingly by the City's enforcement division", said Jim Keech, CEO of Utilities Kingston.
"It's absolutely critical to the health of this community for people to heed our conservation messages."
Keech says that although the City's water systems have generally returned to normal after the recent power outage "it takes an incredible amount of electricity to treat and distribute water".
"With today's high temperatures expected to continue throughout the weekend and considering the fact that a large component the Pickering Nuclear generating plant is still off, the onus is on all citizens of the Province, including Kingstonians to take personal responsibility to conserve".
All City departments will continue to practice energy conservation efforts until at least next Monday, August 25.
Resident's can call the City's customer service centre at 546-0000 for inquires related to the water and electric conservation plans.
