CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR'S RESCHEDULE MUNICIPAL SERVICES
The Christmas and New Year holiday season will create some schedule changes to important municipal services.
Offices Closed: The three municipal offices, along with Social Services, Utilities Kingston, Kingston Area Recycling Centre and Artillery Park, will close at 12:00 noon Wednesday December 24 and again on Wednesday December 31. Offices re-open Monday, December 29 and Friday, January 2, 2004 respectively.
Garbage & Recycling: No change to December 24, 26 and 31 collection schedule. Note that is there is no collection on Christmas or New Year's Day. If Christmas Day is your regular collection day, material will be collected Friday December 26. The Friday December 26 collection occurs on Saturday December 27. A 2-bag limit is in effect; all additional bags must be tagged. Wrapping paper is NOT recyclable.
The Recycling Centre closes at 12:00 noon December 24 and December 31. The facility is closed December 25, 26 and re-opens Saturday, December 27 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The recycling centre is closed Thursday January 1 and reopens Friday, January 2, 2004.
Kingston East landfill is closed December 25 and 26 and re-opens Saturday, December 27. Landfill site is closed Monday, December 29 and Thursday January 1, 2004. Reopens January 2, 2004
Christmas Tree Composting: The City does not collect Christmas trees. Trees can be dropped off, free of charge at either the Kingston Area Recycling Centre or to the Kingston East landfill site. Christmas trees should be un-bagged and free of decoration.
Kingston Transit: Finishing times for transit on December 24 and December 31 are the same as Saturday service. No transit service on December 25th, 26th or January 1st, 2004.
Rock n' At The Clock New Year's Party: On New Year's Eve enjoy complimentary parking at all City parking lots after 6 p.m. Entertainment starts on Ontario Street at 6:00 p.m. and fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
Utilities Emergency: In the event of a utility emergency such as a gas smell, or a water main break, call Utilities Kingston at 546-1181. (24 hrs)
