UPDATE: CATARAQUI RIVER UTILITIES CROSSING PROJECT WORK HALTED
Utilities Kingston officials report that work on the in-water construction of the Great Cataraqui River utilities crossing was halted in early December 2003 when ice prevented timely completion of the dredging and installation of pipes.
The cold, hard and unusual weather of late 2003 impacted the construction of the dredge material storage facility and the in-water construction say officials.
Utilities Kingston will be working closely with the contractor to start up as soon as possible in 2004 to complete the works.
Construction of the land portions of the pipelines will be coordinated by the contractor and their subcontractors as weather permits.
Utilities Kingston says that a separate contract for upgrading the River Street pumping station will be awarded early in 2004. This work is anticipated to be complete later in the year.
