HOLIDAY SEASON ALTERS MUNICIPAL SERVICE SCHEDULE
The holiday season will create some schedule changes to important municipal services.
Many City services and programs won't be available on December 27, December 28, and January 3.
The Utilities Kingston office will close at 12 p.m on December 24 and re-open Tuesday, January 4, 2005.
Administration: The three municipal offices, along with Social Services and Utilities Kingston will
close at 12 noon Friday December 24 and re-open on Wednesday, December 29. On December 31, the three
municipal offices, along with Social Services and Utilities Kingston close at 12 p.m and re-open Tuesday,
January 4, 2005.
Utilities Emergency: In the event of a utility emergency such as a gas smell or a water main break, please call Utilities Kingston 24 hour number at 546-1181. For other emergencies call 9-11
Garbage And Recycling Collection: Garbage and Recycling will be collected on Monday Dec 27 and Tuesday Dec 28 meaning there's no change to the Christmas week collection schedule. Loyalist Township will have their recycling collected on the Monday as usual. For New Year's, the garbage and recycling collection schedule is as follows:
If Monday January 3, 2005 is your regular collection day, material will be collected on Tuesday January 4, 2005. For the balance of New Year's week, material will be collected the day after regular collection days. Note that a two-bag limit is in effect; all additional bags must be tagged. Wrapping paper is NOT recyclable.
Recycling Centre: Kingston Area Recycling Centre and the Kingston East Landfill site close at 12 noon Friday, December 24 and reopen Tuesday, December 28. On December 31, the recycling centre and landfill site close at 12 p.m. reopening Tuesday, January 4, 2005.
Christmas Tree Composting: The City does not collect Christmas trees but you can take your tree free of charge to either the Kingston Area Recycling Centre or to the Kingston East landfill site for disposal. Christmas trees should be un-bagged and free of decoration.
Kingston Transit: Last transit run December 24 and December 31 is approximately 7 p.m. From Brock and Bagot Street, buses go to end of their routes. No transit on December 25, 26 or Jan 1, 2005.
Artillery Park Aquatic Centre: The pool and associated recreation programs are closed December 24 at 12 p.m. and re-open Wednesday, December 29. The facility closes at 12 p.m. Friday, December 31 and re-opens Sunday January 2, 2005.
Rock N' At The Clock New Year's Party: On December 31, enjoy complimentary parking at all City parking lots after 6 p.m. Lots of entertainment starts on Ontario Street at 5:30 p.m. and fireworks at 8:30 p.m.
