MEDIA ADVISORY: RAISING OF BOWL FOR WATER TOWER
Photo opportunity for Wednesday, July 6, 2005:
Who:
Utilities Kingston President and CAO Jim Keech and staff will be on site to explain the purpose of the new water tower on Creekford Road which has been under
construction since last fall.
What:
Contractors for Utilities Kingston will raise the 221,000 kg bowl of the new water tower. This is a unique occurrence, never before seen in Kingston.
Once fully operational in the fall of 2005, this new water tower will regulate water pressure to Utilities Kingston customers north of Princess Street, between
Collins Bay Road and Sydenham Road, including the Cataraqui Woods neighbourhood.
When:
Wednesday, July 6, beginning at 7:30 a.m. for approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours. Jim Keech will be at the site and available to answer questions from the media
from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Where:
On site - Creekford Road, just west of Gardiners Road
Note:
This is a construction site and while a clear view is available from beyond the construction site it is suggested that CSA approved footwear be worn. Hard hats
and vests will be available at the site.

To provide adequate storage volumes for increased fire protection and to help regulate water pressures in these areas. As existing pressures fluctuate greatly
with demand, the new storage facility will help to maintain a more consistent pressure.
