Jim Keech, President and CEO of Utilities Kingston (613) 546-4291, extension 2226.
MESSAGE FROM UTILITIES KINGSTON
There has recently been wide-spread media coverage relating to lead water services across the Province. This is a result of the City of London, Ontario,
recently discovering elevated levels of lead in drinking water samples taken from some consumers' taps. This has prompted numerous calls from residents in the
City of Kingston.
Jim Keech, President and CEO of Utilities Kingston, was informed late yesterday by the Ministry of the Environment that the City of Kingston will be one of 35
municipalities issued an order requiring sampling of our system and in customers' homes for lead.
Utilities Kingston will not have details as to how this testing must occur or how it will affect City residents until it receives the order from the Ministry,
which is expected later today. We will provide an update and details on what messages we need to be providing our customers, following receipt of the order.
