UTILITIES KINGSTON PLANS SECOND RAIN BARREL SALE

This weekend's sale of specially-priced rain barrels to Utilities Kingston customers was such an overwhelming success that a second sale date has been arranged. The 300 of the barrels available at this Saturday's sale were sold within two-and-a-half hours.

Another 300 barrels have been ordered so that more Utilities Kingston water and sewer customers can pick one up on Thursday, June, 21, between 2 and 6 p.m. The $30 cost of the barrel will be added to a household's next bill.

Barrels are limited to one per household and customers must bring a copy of one of their utility bills along with a completed Rain Barrel Form. The form will appear in next week's City ads in the Kingston Whig-Standard or may be downloaded from www.utilitieskingston.com/water/rainbarrel/.

A rain barrel can pay for itself in water savings. The barrels on offer are topped with a child-proof screen for intercepting debris and mosquitoes and a barrel tap installed near the bottom of the drum to allow for the connection of a garden hose. The barrels are made from recycled food grade plastic containers and hold up to 200 litres.

For more information contact the Customer Service Centre at 546-0000.
