TRADE OLD HOLIDAY LIGHTS FOR FREE LEDS & SAVE ENERGY
New, free energy-efficient LED indoor-outdoor lights for old inefficient ones -
that's the deal being offered by Kingston Electricity Distribution Ltd. (KEDL).
The kilowatt-saving trade takes place 8 to 11 a.m. (or while quantities last)
this Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Canadian Tire at the Kingston Centre, 59 Bath Rd.
KEDL, the electrical distribution company managed by Utilities Kingston, is
offering a free set of 70 LED lights to the first 1,000 customers who bring in a
string of old indoor-outdoor lights along with a copy of their Utilities
Kingston electric bills.
LED - or Light Emitting Diode - lights use up to 90 per cent less energy than
incandescent holiday lights. The electricity consumed by just one seven-watt
incandescent bulb can power 140 LED bulbs. LEDs are also safer to use because
they produce less heat and are shatterproof, shock-resistant and last up to ten
times longer.
