Visit the Crerar Boulevard Sewage Lift Station home page.

Utilities Kingston is planning improvements to the Crerar Boulevard Sewage Lift Station. The improvements will provide for additional pumping capacity and stand by generation capacity, and will correct existing deficiencies in the heating and ventilation systems, electrical systems and controls.

Crerar Boulevard Sewage Lift Station is located at the southerly terminus of Crerar Boulevard in Kingston West. It was constructed in the early 1960s and last upgraded in 1995. Theoretical peak flows for the existing service area, at full build out, have been calculated to be 77 litres per second. The existing station is rated at 51 litres per second. It is recommended that the existing pumps be upgraded or replaced with larger units to accommodate all future flows (timing as required). Upgrading of stand by generator capacity to accommodate the larger pumps is also recommended. Other improvements, as listed above, are typical maintenance items for a station of this vintage.

The recommended improvements will not significantly change the exterior appearance of the station or current operational practices. A condition assessment report has been prepared, which further details the rational behind proposed improvements. The full report can be viewed at the offices listed below, or an executive summary of the report can be viewed at www.utilitieskingston.com.

Utilities Kingston has retained TSH Consulting Engineers to complete an environmental assessment of the proposed improvements. The environmental assessment is now complete and documented in a phase 1 and 2 report, which is also available for viewing at the addresses listed below. This project is being planned under Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000.

Subject to comments received as a result of this notice and the receipt of necessary approvals, Utilities Kingston intends to proceed with implementation of the works. Reconstruction of Crerar Boulevard Sewage Lift Station is scheduled to be completed before year end.
