Project Notice:
Sewer Investigations & Rehabilitation - Summer/Fall 2008

Details:

Sewer investigations and infrastructure rehabilitation works will continue in the summer of 2008. Utilities Kingston has contracted the services of a team led by D.M. Robichaud Associates Ltd. to undertake the project.

Included in the investigations are field/house surveys to look for extraneous inflow sources that may enter the sanitary sewer, as well as the completion of fog testing. Fog testing involves forcing a non-toxic, non-staining fog into the sewer system to identify cross-connections. Investigations will commence as of June 30 and will take 8-10 weeks.

Rehabilitation of the sanitary sewers will also commence and the majority of work will use 'trenchless' technologies to repair the pipe network and manholes. Rehabilitation works will start June 23, 2008, and will take 3-4 months.

In 2008, areas of focus include portions of Strathcona Park, as well as within the Palace Road area. The majority of works will not affect homeowners or cause any disruption to service. Homeowners within focused areas of investigation and rehabilitation efforts will receive direct advanced notification of works that may affect them.
