Utilities Kingston has completed a Class Environmental Assessment to identify the
preferred method of providing additional sewage pumping capacity and stand-by generation
capacity, and to correct existing deficiencies in the heating and ventilation systems,
electrical systems and controls.
This project was undertaken in accordance with the procedures set out in the Municipal
Class Environmental Assessment, June 2000, as amended in 2007. The Municipal Class EA
applies to municipal infrastructure projects including roads, water and wastewater
projects. Alternative solutions were identified and evaluated in consultation with the
public and other stakeholders.
Due to noise issues with installing a larger generator within the existing structure, the
project was revised and alternative planning solutions to address this issue were
developed and evaluated using technical, environmental and economic criteria.
