Goose Flashers added to power lines at Bath and Centennial

Goose Flashers added to power lines at Bath and Centennial

Due to a number of power outages to a customer at the corner of Bath Road and Centennial Drive, flashers have been added mid-span on the power lines to deter geese.

With their wide wing spans, geese risk contacting two of the three lines when they attempt to fly in between these power lines. This can trip the power and harm the geese. Since we added the flashers in February, there have been no further such incidences.

The flashers have reflective tape that, when hit with light from a passing car, can give off a burst of light. This is normal and should not cause alarm.

For your safety:

  • If you see a brief burst of light mid-span at Centennial and Bath (at the location shown in the photo below), know this is normal and should not cause alarm.
  • If you see flashes, sparks or arching at the pole at this or any other location, stay back and report it by calling our 24-hour emergency line at 613-546-1181.

For more information, call customer service at 613-546-0000.
