Stay alert: Protect yourself from impersonation scams

Customers have recently reported incidents in which individuals impersonate Kingston Hydro employees and encourage homeowners to upgrade their electrical panels. This is a scam.

Scammers may use high-pressure tactics, claim urgent safety concerns, or suggest that upgrades are required immediately. In some cases, they may request personal information or try to arrange unnecessary work.

Know how we operate

Utilities Kingston operates Kingston Hydro’s electricity distribution system in Central Kingston. Our employees do not conduct unsolicited door-to-door sales for electrical panel upgrades or pressure customers into making immediate decisions about electrical work.

If work is required on your property, customers are contacted in advance through official communication channels and employees visiting your property will be properly identified.
